Important Notes:
- Backup Your Earnings: Before closing your AdSense account, ensure you've withdrawn any pending earnings. Google will not send payments for balances that were not claimed.
- Impact on Other Google Services: Deleting your AdSense account might affect services like YouTube monetization and other Google services that rely on AdSense for payments.
Google’s Policies on AdSense Accounts
Google’s policies regarding AdSense accounts are clear and must be followed carefully. Here are some important policies that you should be aware of before deleting your account:
- One Account per Person: Google only allows each individual to have one active AdSense account. If you try to open multiple accounts under the same name or address, it could lead to account suspension.
- Account Closure Process: Google has a strict process for closing your AdSense account. It requires you to carefully review all outstanding earnings and linkages, such as payment details, before account closure.
- Pending Payments: Google requires that you clear any pending payments before closing your account. If you have any outstanding earnings, you must withdraw them before deleting the account.
- Data Retention: Google may retain your data for a certain period after account closure, which means that some information could still be accessible for purposes like audit or security.
- Final Payment: Once your AdSense account is closed, it is possible to receive a final payment for any earnings you have accumulated up to the closure date, but only if you have met the payment threshold.
Before Deleting Your AdSense Account: Precautions to Take
Before you proceed with the deletion process, there are some critical steps to take to ensure that you don’t lose important data or earnings:
-
Withdraw Pending Earnings:
- Check Your Account Balance: Before deleting your account, ensure that you have no pending payments. If you have earnings in your AdSense account, they will need to be paid out before closure.
- Minimum Payment Threshold: Make sure your earnings meet the minimum payout threshold, usually $100, to avoid losing money.
- Withdraw Funds: Go to the “Payments” section in AdSense and request a payout to your bank account or other payment methods.
-
Review Your AdSense Settings and Ads:
- Disable Ads on Websites or Channels: If you are using AdSense ads on your website or YouTube channel, remove all ad units from your site before deleting your account.
- Alternative Monetization Methods: If you plan to use other monetization methods, such as affiliate marketing, make sure that these systems are set up before closing your AdSense account.
-
Review All Linked Accounts:
- YouTube Channel: If your YouTube account is linked to your AdSense account, unlink it before deletion to avoid losing monetization on YouTube. Once your AdSense account is deleted, you will need to reapply for monetization through a different AdSense account or another service.
- Google Analytics: Ensure that your Google Analytics account is also separated from the AdSense account if necessary.
-
Export Your Data:
- Export Reports: If you wish to keep a record of your earnings or performance, export any relevant data, such as reports, income statistics, or ad performance insights, before closing the account. Google offers options to download and export reports to CSV, Excel, or PDF formats.
